Measuring the Success

There are many methods to measure the success of note spotting. You can use a spread sheet or journal to log the data. A very efficient way is using a statistic with a GRAPH. This not only offers a visual representation of the achievement, it also motivates the student to become better.

The main advantages of a statistical graph is that it can quickly present complex data in a simple, visual format, making it easier to spot trends, compare data sets, and understand relationships between variables. They provide a more lasting impression than raw numbers and can be used to effectively communicate findings, even to a non-technical audience.

This how it works: The vertical axis is the number of spotted notes per minute. It starts with zero and goes all the way up to 80. Each increment represents 25 steps. The horizontal axis is the time line. You see months and the beginning days of a week (e.g. Mondays). Each horizontal increment speaks for a week.

The BLACK slanted line to the right is for the target. In the given example the target line starts with 10 notes per minute over 27 weeks to 80 notes per minute. The target line should be set, so it is realistic for the student.

The RED line is the actual graph of the weekly 1 minute exam and reflects the real number of spotted notes. Ideally the red graph should follow the target line.

Note Spotting should be done as a game in a relaxed manner. If done correctly, the results will be stunning!
